Overview
Krishna Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), Karad, successfully conducted a two-day workshop on Critical Care Nursing, aimed at enhancing the clinical competencies of nursing students and professionals. The program focused on bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in technologically advanced medical settings.
Inauguration

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Yugantara Kadam, Dean, KIMS, Karad, in the presence of Dr. (Mrs.) Vaishali R. Mohite, Dean, KINS, Karad. Dr. Kadam emphasized the importance of specialized training in improving patient outcomes and strengthening emergency preparedness.

Fundamental Skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) training following AHA guidelines
High-quality CPR and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
Advanced Cardiac Care
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) algorithms
Emergency drug management (e.g., Adrenaline, Amiodarone)
ECG interpretation for life-threatening arrhythmias
Airway & Ventilation
Endotracheal intubation and extubation procedures
Mechanical ventilation modes: Volume/Pressure Control, SIMV
Hemodynamic Monitoring
Invasive monitoring techniques: Arterial Line, Central Line, Pulmonary Artery (Swan Ganz)

Impact and Outcomes
The workshop demonstrated significant learning gains through pre- and post-test evaluations:
Day 1: Average score improved from 7.42 to 16.87 (out of 20)
Day 2: Average score rose from 8.57 to 17.06
Participants gained critical confidence in clinical decision-making and emergency management, reinforced through individual redemonstrations on simulation manikins.
Conclusion
The workshop concluded with a valedictory program graced by Dr. Girish R. Pathade, Dean, KIST, who encouraged participants to continuously enhance their competencies. The event successfully equipped nursing professionals with essential skills for managing critically ill patients in modern ICUs, highlighting KINS’s commitment to excellence in advanced clinical education.
