Breast Feeding Week Celebration- 2022 (01/08/2022 to 07/08/2022)

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is a global campaign to raise awareness and galvanize action on themes related to breastfeeding.

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (DU), Krishna Institute of Nursing Sciences, Karad, celebrated. World Breast Feeding Week from 01/08/2022 to 07/08/2022

Breastfeeding for sustainable world was celebrated for dedicated to protection, promotion and support for breast feeding. Students were encouraged to focus on breast feeding education and support throughout the month on August and beyond Dr. V. Y. Kshirsagar, Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics, Krishna Hospital & M.R.C. Karad inaugurated the programme. He addressed regarding baby friendly hospital initiative.

Theme - "Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support",

Aim - To strengthen the collaboration at different levels of society to support, and promote breastfeeding.

Objectives

To recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life with appropriate complementary foods for up to 2 years or beyond.

To inform people about their role in strengthening the warm chain of support for breastfeeding

To anchor breastfeeding as part of good nutrition, food security and reduction of inequalities.
