Institute of Neurosciences : in making
At KIMS Karad, the institute of Neurosciences is working to excel in Neurosurgery and lead the world in new techniques and technology as well as research. After being the first and presently the only place in India to have an Exoscope, and a state of the Art Microscope, we have designed the robotic Endoscope holder and is doing trials with this. The department invented Cisternostomy, which has changed the way how the surgical treatment of head trauma is done. We also described how the brain is cooled and cleaned, and this has changed the scope of research of many neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Iype Cherian, who heads the Department, gives lectures to all over the world in Skullbase, vascular surgery and teaches his technique of Cisternostomy to the world.
